Ladies and gentlemen, I know I wasn't here for a long time .
You know how it is - school, work, going out with the dog, reading books,
movies, TV series... in one word - time is running out far too quickly. I was
recently in Poland, for the holidays, and during the return I thought it would be actually
worth it to go back and start writing again. Like always I cannot promise anything, but today I'll start with the
assessment of the two airlines I flew to and from Polish. Why? Because I'm
absolutely disgusted by one of them and pleased with second.
Polish version
Let's start with an airline under the proud name of "Norwegian Air
Shuttle." What comes to mind when we hear "Norway"? Probably cold, snow, Scandinavia, and high blonde girls with blue eyes... Well,
unfortunately, the whole crew (perhaps with the exception of the pilots which I didn't meet) came from Asia. I do not know where from, I did not
ask, but if I had to shoot it was probably Japan. I rarely pay attention to the crew, but there is a difference... If only they would speak Norwegian...
Well, ok, the crew is a small problem. Food, however, is no
longer something meaningless. On the long flights where passengers sit for 10
hours are most often two meals - one little before mid-flight and one for 2-3 hours
before landing. Yeah... Norwegian lines assumed that their
passengers are rich, so on these special monitors you could buy some sandwich or
whatever, and the crew would bring it. As someone once said about
capitalism, "nothing is free."
Another thing - get used to flying only with a really
small luggage. Main luggage? You have to buy a place on the airplane, and then it can only be up to
20kg (44 pounds). If your hand luggage exceeds 10 kg (22 pounds) - it must be added as another main luggage. How much is it? Almost $100 on those long distance flights...
To sum it all up - if you're flying for short distances,
Warsaw-London or Warsaw-Oslo, and at any meeting where you do not need
anything other than a notebook or laptop, go ahead. Tickets are rather cheap,
planes are normal, the seats are as comfortable as any other line. However, if
you're flying at greater distances and / or for a longer visit it's better to choose other Airlines... The ones that would actually feed you during the flight.
Next on the list is Aeroflot. Lines of traditions which can
be seen after their symbol - sickle, hammer, red star. Tickets are probably the
cheapest on the market, planes surprisingly modern and not disintegrating during flight screw after screw, and the food... yes, the food is one of the
best I have ever seen in airplanes and I've flown already in several lines. After these few sentences you can clearly see I like these lines. That's the truth.
The crew is either from Russia, or at least speaks fluent
Russian and of course speaking to them in English causes you to be treated as second-class citizen... but it's ok, don't learn Russian just to talk to the crew on the airplane. They will do
what they need to do anyway, and you will still get what you should get - two meals and two
or three times something to drink (water, tea, juice, white / red wine).
And again - the plane is normal, the seats are fine, windows
are the same as always... but the food is better and the tickets are really cheap, especially when purchased ahead of time.
With this fight Aeroflot emerges victorious, and the
Norwegian is low as the bottom of the Mariana Trench.
PS. Nope, there ain't no text about Valentine's Day
